Our design for an urban residential block with a house for children at the city park of the new Bayernkaserne district was awarded 2nd prize at the beginning of May. The project by GWG Städtische Wohnungsgesellschaft München comprises 208 subsidised flats in an eight-storey residential block. In addition, there is a tower storey at the entrance to the green boulevard. The compact block, which appears closed at first glance, is given a rhythm and division into individual "houses" through the combination of loggias and filigree steel balconies. Access to the courtyard is through a striking two-storey arched gate. The jury was convinced by the design "as a successful contribution to the urban ensemble of blocks for the new urban district".
