Anerkennung Realisierungswettbewerb
Freie Waldorfschule Berlin-Mitte
Berlin Waldorfschule Mitte Perspektive Steinstrasse Winking Froh Architekten

In the second phase of the competition for the expansion of the Freie Waldorfschule in Berlin-Mitte, Winking · Froh  Architekten together with Frank Kiessling landschaftsarchitekten received an Anerkennung on January 24th. The design for the school extension, the after-school-club and the teachers' seminar consistently follow the urban development of their 1st prize from the site development phase. The jury and the preservationists praised the three city building blocks for their clear building geometry and their restraint in architectural expression. The reduction of all facades to the material of the slurried brick links the new city building blocks with its context on Steinstrasse and Gormannstrasse. The compact placement allows a spectrum of valuable materials as well inside as on the outside and will meet the requirements of the Waldorfschule. The competition works will presumably be exhibited in April 2020.
