On 13 August, the office Winking · Froh Architekten was presented with the Polis Award 2020 in the category Intelligent redensification for the project "Revitalisation of the Spiegel Island". In his laudatory speech, Reiner Nagel, Chairman of the Board of the Bundesstiftung Baukultur and Chairman of the Jury, emphasised that it had been possible to bring about a further improvement in an "iconographic, listed location through intelligent redensification". "At a location rich in tradition in Hamburg's city centre, a redevelopment in line with the preservation order has been achieved with the careful addition of new building volumes where old substance was no longer sustainable".
