2nd prize Postblock-Süd on Berlin's Wilhelmstraße

At the end of November, the jury, chaired by Stefan Behnisch, awarded the design for a new ministry on Wilhelmstraße and a residential building on Zimmerstraße. "The design impresses with its clear separation between ministry and housing construction. He consistently develops two different typologies, each convincing in its own right, from urban construction tothe expression of the façade"and yet merge them into a whole," the jury ruled. The aim was to unite the urban bridge between the clear block structure of Friedrichstadt on the one hand and the open building methods with palaces, embassies and ministries towards Tiergarten on the other hand with a solitaire for the ministry and a block line for residential development. The arena shape of the courtyardit was developed from the special place. It is associated with Hans Heinrich Müller'sround waiting building at the E-Werk.

Renren Mansion Headquarters in Hangzhou completed

Hangzhou Renren Group, a supplier to the automotive and motorcycle industry, will open its new corporate headquarters in Gongshu District in Hangzhou, China this summer. The 75,000 square meter project results from a 2014 design for the Hengfeng Group headquarters. It consists of two 16-storey office skyscrapers, a 5-storey design centre and exposed basementwith canteen and workshops. With the aim of making optimal use of the narrow and offset plot and still creating a district centre, the houses were developed as slim three-flank pane houses. They formulate the address of the district around a sunken atrium courtyard. Glossy white aluminium facades in two different but mutually correspondingWindow divisions bring the high and low components together to form a large whole.
